ARES members and Net Controls,
Due to some technical issues with the 443.775 repeater, Kevin (KA9VXS) has
taken it off the air. It will remain out of service for an undetermined
period.
This has been a vital link to Central Indiana SKYWARN (CISW) for our area.
Until service is restored or an alternative solution is found and
implemented, we will be without local access to the CISW nets. Those of you
acting as liaisons with high power and high antennas at home may be able to
access the CISW net on the W9ICE machines during severe weather: 146.970-
MHz (PL 77.0) or the 442.650+ MHz (PL 77.0)
Also, be aware that you will not hear the CISW net, or even know one is
taking place, unless you are monitoring the 146.97 or 442.650 repeater in
Indianapolis.
If the liaison is unable to reliably and consistently access the CISW net
via the Indianapolis repeaters, reports should be phoned in directly to the
NWS by the liaison. Please consult the SKYWARN Operations Plan and other
ARES media for the number and keep it handy.
We will keep you informed of any changes to the present status, or
alternatives that may be developed.
The KA9VXS repeater has been an extremely valuable asset to the amateur
community for many years. We hope that it will return to service and
continue to serve the area soon.
