[TCARES 0614] Purdue Half-Marathon

Fellow ARES members,

The 2014 Purdue Boilermaker Half-Marathon will be held on Saturday, October
18. We have been asked to help provide communications for this event. This
is an excellent opportunity for our ARES members to help with a public
service event and get some field operating time in the process! Many
volunteers are needed for this event. Please consider helping for just a
few hours.

The Purdue Boilermakers Half-Marathon will involve several hundred runners
on a route extending more than 13 miles through Lafayette and West
Lafayette, and a shorter 5K route through West Lafayette. This event
involves the efforts of hundreds of volunteers, the cooperation of multiple
public safety agencies and municipalities, and the closing of many city
streets on a tightly scheduled time-line, presenting a challenge for event
coordination.
