Images from a low power X-band radar that was installed on top of Wang Hall
at Purdue earlier this year is now available publicly. It provides a more
detailed local view of winds and precipitation in the lower atmosphere. Due
to the curvature of the earth, the lowest that the beam of the NWS's radar
in Indianapolis can see is over 4000' above our heads. This new local radar
provides a tool for targeting that observation gap.
