This Week at Purdue Lutheran Ministry
The week of October 30, 2005
WELCOME to PLM's weekly newsletter! We gather each Tuesday afternoon for
Soup Lunch at 412 Russell Street -- and Sunday evenings at 6:30 at Our
Saviour Lutheran Church for Sunday night supper and a student led worship at
7:30. PLM offices are located at 412 Russell Street - right in the middle
of campus. Our Saviour Lutheran Church (OSLC) is located on the corner of
Fowler and Vine streets - one block east of the Knoy Hall of Technology.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
a Fall Retreat last weekend was a big success! A HUGE thanks to Kelly,
Sarah, and Christina for an excellent job of setting up the retreat.
a LSM National Gathering will be Dec. 28, 2005 to Jan. 1, 2006. It
will take place in San Diego, CA at the San Diego Marriott Hotel. The theme
will be: “Out of the Boat and Into the Water: A Faith Immersion.” The
gathering will entail worship, service projects, small groups, captivating
speakers and preachers, workshops, and more. Let Pastor or Diane know if
you are interested in going.
a ATTN: GRADUATE STUDENTS. PLM will be sponsoring a dessert meeting for
any/all graduate students. The meeting will be held on November 8th at 7:00
p.m. in the upstairs High School Room of Our Saviour Lutheran Church.
Discussion will focus on the possibility of forming a Graduate Student
Fellowship group.
a The OSLC youth will be joining us on November 5th to tailgate at 412.
Cooking will begin around 10am. Pancakes will most likely be the food of
the morning.
a Tuesday Soup Lunch, 11-2pm. Join us for lunch this week; plenty of
soup and food for all even though Pastor Steve and Britt will be away at an
Intern Cluster Retreat.
a PLMers will be visiting Britt’s congregation in Attica on Sunday,
November 6th. We will meet at 412 and leave at 8:30am. We will attend
services and then join the congregation in a potluck lunch provided by them.
a If this is your last semester at Purdue, we would like to recognize you
at our upcoming worship service on December 4th. Please let us know if you
plan on attending worship on December 4th. The deadline is: Tuesday,
November 22, 2005. Please note the change in the dates.
a The next PLM Planning meeting is: Wednesday, November 9, 8:30pm at
412.
a PLM Choir sings at the Sunday Night Worship and rehearses on Sunday,
5:00pm at 412.
a The offering on the first Sunday of the month goes to Compassion
International. We now have 2 children, Nur Efendi from Indonesia and
Christina Luka Sombi from United Republic of Tanzania.
a "Let Love Build" Celebration Party, Sunday, November 13, 2-4 pm--All
the congregations involved in the Lutheran Habitat project will be gathering
to celebrate the end of the six week fundraising drive at St. James Lutheran
Church cafeteria. PLM and University Lutheran will be planning activities
