Fellow SKYWARN spotters,
A new on-line storm report form is now available for storm spotters and the
general public to use. On the left hand menu of the Indianapolis NWS home
page, http://weather.gov/ind, under the first heading "Current Hazards",
look for the link "Submit Storm
Report<http://www.srh.noaa.gov/StormReport/SubmitReport.php?site=ind>
".
This link will take you to the
<http://www.srh.noaa.gov/StormReport/SubmitReport.php?site=ind>*Submit
a Storm Report
<http://www.srh.noaa.gov/StormReport/SubmitReport.php?site=ind>* page for
the National Weather Service Indianapolis. Simply fill in the appropriate
dialog boxes with the proper information; date, time, location of the
event, select the event from the list, add any additional details you think
the NWS should know in the "Additional Details" box, and lastly, include
your contact information. When you submit your report, it will immediately
alarm on computers in the NWS office.
The last box, "Contact Information", is voluntary. However all NWS
Indianapolis Storm Spotters are encouraged to include specific location
information in the appropriate box. Use your amateur callsign for the
"Spotter ID", and select "HAM Operator" from the drop-down list for the
"Observer Profile".
This new on-line reporting form is replacing the *eSpotter* system, which
is being discontinued. All spotters who were in* eSpotter, *should
immediately start using this on-line reporting form.
*NOTE: The primary method of relaying severe weather reports will continue
to be through the local SKYWARN net.* This online reporting tool is to be
used as a backup method, i.e., if a local SKYWARN net is not active, you
are out of range of a local net, or your radio is not functioning
properly. This
can also be used by non-amateur spotters and the general public. *Do NOT use
the online report form if you have already reported via a SKYWARN
net.* Duplicate
reports from the same person are not desirable and will create confusion.
